QWERTAS / Downloads

Download QWERTAS.

A free, software-defined desktop musical instrument for an ordinary computer keyboard. Installers come from GitHub Releases—not from this website’s static file tree.

Desktop builds

Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Only stable, non-draft release assets that match the project’s audited package names are offered here. Missing platforms stay explicitly unavailable.

Requirements

Keep the claims honest.

Targets follow the current Electron 44 packaging matrix. Builds are unsigned and unnotarized until a signed release workflow exists.

Windows

  • Windows 10 or newer, x64
  • Keyboard and audio output
  • NSIS installer or portable ZIP when published
  • SmartScreen may warn on unsigned first launch

macOS

  • macOS supported by Electron 44
  • Separate x64 and arm64 DMGs when published
  • Keyboard and audio output
  • Gatekeeper blocks unnotarized apps by default

Linux

  • x64 desktop with working audio
  • AppImage and/or DEB when published
  • AppImage needs execute permission
  • DEB suits glibc-based distributions

Install

Short guidance, no security bypass.

These steps assume a published release asset. Do not disable OS security features as a routine install step.

Windows

  1. Download the NSIS setup or portable ZIP.
  2. Run the setup, or extract the ZIP and launch QWERTAS.
  3. If SmartScreen appears, review the publisher warning before continuing.

macOS

  1. Download the DMG for your chip.
  2. Open it and move the app into Applications if prompted.
  3. If Gatekeeper blocks it, use Privacy & Security after an intentional open attempt.

Linux

  1. Download the AppImage or DEB.
  2. chmod +x the AppImage, then run it.
  3. Install the DEB with your distro’s package tools.

FAQ

Downloads, clearly.

Is QWERTAS free?

Yes. The desktop instrument and the Learn practice TXT sheets are free. There is no account, payment, or email gate on this page.

Where do the installers come from?

GitHub Releases for nrek/qwertas is the source of truth. This site never hosts duplicate binaries under /downloads.

Why are some platforms unavailable?

A platform appears only when the latest stable release contains a matching audited asset name. Empty Releases, drafts, prereleases, and unmatched filenames stay unavailable.

Are the builds signed?

Not yet. Current packaging is unsigned and unnotarized. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper warnings are expected until a signed release pipeline exists.

Are checksums published?

No SHA-256 digests are published for installers yet. When a stable GitHub Release includes checksums or a trusted manifest, they will be shown here. Do not invent or trust unofficial hashes.

Where is the full release history?

On GitHub Releases. This page surfaces only the latest stable, non-draft release.

Where are the practice TXT files?

On the Learn page. Direct sheet URLs such as /downloads/01_twinkle_twinkle_theme.txt remain valid. Those files are practice scores, not app installers.

How do I report an install problem?

Open an issue on GitHub or email me@nrek.co.
